Naledi Smart Grid origins are centred around enabling households and businesses to have access to reliable and sustainable energy via the provision of smart solar-centred micro-grid solutions. We pride ourselves on the provision of renewable energy and engineering solutions that directly contribute to the reduction of Green House Gas (GHG) emissions in specifically identified markets.

Micro-Grid Components

Micro-Grid Solution Options

The smart solar-centred micro-grid is implementable in an Off-Grid formation or/and Hybrid Grid-Tied formation via the provision of smart energy Point of Deliveries (PODs) which are available in different configurations as illustrated herewith:

  • Single or three-phase.
  • AC configuration only (UPS).
  • DC-coupled configuration.
  • AC/DC-coupled configuration.
     

 The Energy POD comes in different sizes as outlined:

  • 15 kVA, AC Configuration, Three Phase or Single Phase
  • 24 kVA, AC Configuration, Three Phase or Single Phase
  • 30 kVA, AC Configuration, Three Phase or Single Phase
  • 45 kVA, AC Configuration, Three Phase
  • 60 kVA, AC Configuration, Three Phase
  • 90 kVA, AC Configuration, Three Phase
  • 135 kVA, AC Configuration, Three Phase

Energy Pod Schematic

The following additional components and features are included in the over-engineering design for ease of health & safety as well as ease of efficient energy conservation:

  • Security alarm for unauthorized entry into Energy POD
  • Temperature control with automatic fan management
  • Easy AC IN and AC OUT connections
  • All required DC cabling, fusing and surge protection
  • AC circuit breaker for incoming and outgoing AC with earth leakage
  • Automatic shutdown on AC and DC
  • Single-phase or three-phase bypass switch
  • Full-colour display touch screen on AC line with motorized DC circuit breaker control
  • Internal modem for Wi-Fi communication (excluding SIM card)
  • Flame block lithium fire suppression system designed in accordance with SANS 14520
  • Energy management system to regulate power consumption
  • A Certificate of Compliance will be supplied for the internal installations within the Energy POD.
